Has anyone else noticed the giddy delight that golfers get when they find a lost Titleist Pro V-1 somewhere on the course during a round? I’ve noticed this phenomenon for a while, but was reminded of it again this past week while playing at Bandon Dunes. Several times during my trip my playing partner or caddy would squeal with aplomb when finding a Pro V-1. The exchange went something like this:
“I found another ball over here.”
“Is it is a Pro V?”
“Yeah…it is.”
“Nice! That’s a keeper!”
I get it. Pro V-1′s set the mark for golf balls. It’s the ball many pros and elite players play. They are expensive. They have market cachet. I just find it peculiar that no other golf ball elicits such zeal when found during a round.
Like little white nuggets of gold lost amongst the trees or weeds, they are golf’s treasure trove.
What about you? Do you get excited when finding a lost Titleist Pro V-1 during your round? What’s your record for discovered Pro V’s in one round?
