{"id":437,"date":"2012-03-06T17:26:04","date_gmt":"2012-03-06T17:26:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/anthonypioppi.com\/?p=437"},"modified":"2012-03-06T17:29:09","modified_gmt":"2012-03-06T17:29:09","slug":"437","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theaposition.com\/anthonypioppi\/blog\/437\/437","title":{"rendered":"Southworth Development Buys Willowbend Country Club"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former business partners, Paul Fireman, the founder of shoe apparel giant Reebok International, and David Southworth, <a href=\"http:\/\/theaposition.com\/anthonypioppi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/57\/2012\/03\/bay7.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-438\" src=\"http:\/\/theaposition.com\/anthonypioppi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/57\/2012\/03\/bay7-300x238.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"238\" \/><\/a>have finalized a significant New England golf course property sale.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.willowbendcountryclub.com\/\">Willowbend Country Club<\/a> in Mashpee, Mass., on Cape Cod, was sold by Fireman to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.southworthdevelopment.com\/\">Southworth Development LLC<\/a> of Newton, Mass.. Southworth is a developer of residential resort-styled communities, with properties in the U.S., Scotland and The Bahamas.\u00a0 Southworth is a privately held firm owned by David Southworth of Boston and Joseph Deitch of West Palm Beach, Fla. David Southworth began his residential development career as Fireman\u2019s business partner, serving as President and CEO of Willowbend Development from 1992 to 2005.\u00a0 According to a press release, during that span, the two combined to develop close to $1 billion in resort and\/or residential communities in the United States and Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n<p>Deitch is founder and Chairman of Commonwealth Financial Network, the nation\u2019s largest privately-owned, independent broker-dealer firm, with over $65 billion under management.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m very pleased to have the opportunity to acquire Willowbend,\u201d said Southworth in a press release. \u201cAs someone who was <a href=\"http:\/\/theaposition.com\/anthonypioppi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/57\/2012\/03\/course-01-hole-16.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-439\" src=\"http:\/\/theaposition.com\/anthonypioppi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/57\/2012\/03\/course-01-hole-16-300x238.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"238\" \/><\/a>there at the very beginning of Willowbend, being given the chance to take over the stewardship of the club and community is something that\u2019s very gratifying. Willowbend has always been a second home for my family and me \u2013 literally, as I maintain a residence and membership there. To have the opportunity to guide this exquisite club community into the future is one that I value dearly.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Willowbend was purchased by the Fireman family in 1991 and became one of the most luxurious private clubs in New England with its 27 holes of golf, cranberry bogs, stunning facilities\u00a0 and its famous members.
