\"Tour<\/a>It could be argued that your wedges are the most important clubs in your bag.\u00a0 Sure, you want to hit fairways with your driver \u2013 but if you can wedge shots close and save pars, even wayward drives won\u2019t kill you.\u00a0 And a hot putter is always a great thing to have \u2013 but if you\u2019re pitching and chipping the ball stone-dead all the time it takes a lot of pressure off your flat stick.\u00a0 Because of this, I\u2019m fanatic about my wedges.\u00a0 When I find wedges I like, I will wear out the grooves before I change them.\u00a0 At least, that used to be the case.\u00a0 Then I tested the Tour Edge Exotics Proto V1.1.\u00a0 From the first strike, I knew these were keepers.\u00a0 Whoa!\u00a0 Beautiful high launch, very soft feel \u2013 and stop-and-drop spin even on off-center hits.\u00a0 Where had these babies been all my life?<\/p>\n

The Tour Edge Exotics Tour Proto V1.1 wedges feature a 303 milled stainless steel face that gives them very soft feel.\u00a0 The face is just 1.5 mm thick and is backed by a hollow core that\u2019s filled with a thermal plastic elastomer gel.\u00a0 The combination of this thin face and gel give these wedges the best feel and feedback I\u2019ve ever found in a wedge.\u00a0 Ever.\u00a0 And I\u2019ve hit a lot of wedges.<\/p>\n

The club\u2019s sole is cambered, too, so it minimizes unwanted turf interaction at the toe and sole.\u00a0 It cuts through tall grass and sand beautifully.\u00a0 And its classic look just seems to suit my eye.<\/p>\n

On top of all this, the Tour Proto features the new True Temper DG Spinner shaft.\u00a0 This shaft, which has what I\u2019d characterize as a \u201creverse bubble\u201d just below the grip where it narrows and then expands, can increase the ball\u2019s spin rate by as much as 700 rpm.\u00a0 This takes a little getting used to \u2013 because pitch shots will stop more quickly than you may be accustomed to.\u00a0 But having the ability to stop shots that precisely is exactly what I want from a wedge.<\/p>\n

These wedges come in a variety of lofts from 50 to 62 and are available in both men\u2019s and women\u2019s models, and for both right- and left-handed players.<\/p>\n

Try these wedges and if you\u2019re lucky they\u2019ll improve your scores as much as they have mine.\u00a0 Nothing else I\u2019ve used comes close.<\/p>\n
