Perhaps you are supervising someone with these traits that needs coaching or maybe you can spot some that you might even have fallen into a trap with. By waking up to them, we can take corrective action before it is too late.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>1. \u00a0Continually displaying anger, impatience, and frustration.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>2. \u00a0Being the \u201cice king or queen\u201d \u2013 showing no concern for the humanness of those around you.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>3. \u00a0Over-promising and under-delivering.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>4. \u00a0Stealing credit and being quick to blame.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>5. \u00a0Lack of integrity \u2013 not walking the talk. Includes greed and dishonesty.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>6. \u00a0Treating others like children, subordinates, or drones. The best leaders don&#8217;t put people into boxes; they free them from boxes!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>7. \u00a0Showing up as the swami or industry expert with all the answers and not inviting others to think and contribute.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>8. \u00a0Creating fog and confusion rather than clarity.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>9. \u00a0Arrogant hubris. Being dismissive\u2014or worse, belittling opposing viewpoints.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>10. Practicing seat-of-the-pants unpredictable decision-making, keeping your team off balance.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>11. Changing the rules without telling anyone or playing favorites.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>12. Engaging in \u201cfeed-attack\u201d rather than feedback and not allowing freedom to fail.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>13. Concealing from your team.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>14. Playing the game: \u201cThis is my game or else.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>15. \u00a0Gossip or &#8220;bad-mouthing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>16. \u00a0Having a personal agenda not in concert with the common good of the organization.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>17. Not taking care of your own health and vitality.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bonus Screw-Up:<\/strong> \u00a0It is the FAILURE TO GROW that really stifles careers on both a literal and figurative basis. I&#8217;ve witnessed so many that would be described as &#8220;experienced incompetents&#8221; with let&#8217;s say thirty years of experience.
