{"id":2071,"date":"2011-01-25T20:32:44","date_gmt":"2011-01-26T03:32:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/robertfagan.com\/?p=2071"},"modified":"2011-06-17T19:11:24","modified_gmt":"2011-06-18T02:11:24","slug":"golf-let-your-feelings-be-your-guide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theaposition.com\/robertfagan\/coaching\/golf-coaching\/2071\/golf-let-your-feelings-be-your-guide","title":{"rendered":"Golf:  Let Your Feelings Be Your Guide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>This lesson provides one of the key learning points in leveraging the Law of Attraction for your golf game.\u00a0 Awareness of your feelings allows you to become your own best teacher in keeping yourself on track with your Intentions \u2013 and the applications far exceed golf!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Please note:\u00a0 if you have deep or troubling feelings, or difficulties with this topic of feelings in general, you may want to consider adding to your team, a trusted, trained, sympathetic person who can draw from you and help you grow.\u00a0 Typically, a psychologist, sports psychologist, life coach, or religious mentor might be worthy of your consideration.\u00a0 Ask the Universe to bring this person into your life, and then be ready and willing to act, and to receive from them.\u00a0 Use the Law of Attraction to your healthy benefit!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cFeelings are the body\u2019s reaction to the mind, and every feeling is your friend.\u201d\u00a0 &#8212; Bob Fagan<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/theaposition.com\/robertfagan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33\/2011\/02\/feelings2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2505\" src=\"http:\/\/theaposition.com\/robertfagan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33\/2011\/02\/feelings2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"292\" height=\"219\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theaposition.com\/robertfagan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33\/2011\/02\/feelings2.jpg 292w, https:\/\/theaposition.com\/robertfagan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33\/2011\/02\/feelings2-175x130.jpg 175w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 292px) 100vw, 292px\" \/><\/a>Just as physical pain signals that something is amiss with the body, emotional hurt signals spiritual misalignment.\u00a0 One of the most important strategies associated with the Law of Attraction is that your feelings are the best auditor of your thoughts.\u00a0 Simply stated, feelings are the language of the soul, the body\u2019s reaction to the mind.\u00a0 When you feel good or right, no action is necessary.\u00a0 However, when you feel depressed, resentful, confused, angry, guilty, sad, or any emotion that does not feel good, go back to re-examine the underlying belief or thought that triggered it.\u00a0 Negative emotions are simply an indicator that you are out of vibrational alignment with your true self \u2013 you messed up.\u00a0 You always have a choice as to how you perceive the world around you.\u00a0 Why not change it to your favor?\u00a0 There always is something related to how we perceive our environment, a choice we make.\u00a0 Change your thought or belief and you change your world.\u00a0 You do all this in effect making yourself a \u201cdeliberate creator\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In golf, we are presented many situations involving the challenge or even the social aspects that can trigger negative feelings.\u00a0 Maybe you don\u2019t like a putt, a hole, a course, an opponent, the playing conditions, a playing companion, what somebody said or did, their etiquette or lack thereof, or even a rules decision.\u00a0 How you interpret your surroundings and react on the golf course can have a telling effect on your game.\u00a0 Make a birdie and do you get too excited or make a double bogey and do you become too upset?\u00a0 The best players will try to stay even keeled.\u00a0 At the least, they will not retain the elation or the anger too long after a shot.\u00a0 Witness Tiger Woods.\u00a0 For a good shot, he has his animated fist-pump, but several seconds later you will find him settled back into a completely composed state \u2013 same way with a bad shot.\u00a0 Poorer players stay elated or depressed too long and it affects their body chemistry and muscles.\u00a0 Sometimes too much of a good thing produces adrenalin that ruins club selection.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/theaposition.com\/robertfagan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33\/2011\/02\/feelings.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2506\" src=\"http:\/\/theaposition.com\/robertfagan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33\/2011\/02\/feelings.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"271\" height=\"186\" \/><\/a>When you catch yourself with a negative feeling, check to identify the underlying belief and quickly make the decision to revise your thinking.\u00a0 Every feeling has a gift to give you if you only notice.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some samples of common uncomfortable feelings in golf and what they mean.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fear<\/strong> \u2013 reflects the possibility of danger or doubt.\u00a0 Choose to acknowledge the fear and to love the challenge.\u00a0 Focus upon the target with blinders, black out the trouble.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anger<\/strong> \u2013 reflects the need to establish clear boundaries so you can maintain your sense of focus and equanimity.\u00a0 Check the source of the thought, and turn it into something positive like a lesson or a signal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Overwhelm &amp; Confusion<\/strong> \u2013 reflects the need to slow down or the need for space.\u00a0 Act accordingly.\u00a0 Stop, look, acknowledge, and choose to engage rather than resist.<\/p>\n<p>When in doubt as to how to respond, try to orient yourself toward love, engagement, and abundance as opposed to fear and scarcity.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Here is a roadmap<\/em><\/strong> as to how you might audit your golfing beliefs and turn the non-operating ones into supportive.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Reflect over areas of      your game in which you are very satisfied.\u00a0 Write down the supporting beliefs in each of those      areas.<\/li>\n<li>Now do the same with      the areas in which you are less than pleased with.\u00a0 Again, jot down the supporting      underlying beliefs.\u00a0 Dig deep      and be honest with yourself.\u00a0      What are the underlying thoughts or beliefs that drive each of      these thoughts?<\/li>\n<li>Now review the \u201cfeel      good\u201d beliefs.\u00a0 Read them over      and then close your eyes and envelop yourself in the feeling that adjoins      them.\u00a0 What thoughts,      emotions, and physical feelings are surfacing?\u00a0 How do you see yourself moving on as a result of these      beliefs?<\/li>\n<li>Now go back to the list      of your limiting beliefs and review them again.\u00a0 Again close your eyes and sense the emotions, physical      feeling, and all that is associated here.\u00a0 Is this the way you want your golfing life to unfold?<\/li>\n<li>Now with the limiting      thoughts, make a decision as to whether or not you want to hold on to      them.\u00a0 Remember that many of      them are just your \u201cstories\u201d or thoughts that you have invested in.\u00a0 Sometimes an audit will reveal      something that is better discarded or released.<\/li>\n<li>For each of those      limiting belief, cross them out, and write out a replacement for them on      the \u201cpositive\u201d list.\u00a0 Destroy      the limiting belief sheet.<\/li>\n<li>What you have done is      to identify what doesn\u2019t work, and then decided that you could and would      change your belief, and then you did.\u00a0 Congratulations!<\/li>\n<li>Now at least once a      day, read over your supportive beliefs with passion and conviction, and      visualize yourself experiencing your new perspectives.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>\u201cYour emotions indicate the degree of your alignment with Source.\u201d\u00a0 &#8211;
