{"id":2632,"date":"2011-03-25T01:14:09","date_gmt":"2011-03-25T08:14:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/robertfagan.com\/?p=2632"},"modified":"2011-03-03T17:28:15","modified_gmt":"2011-03-04T00:28:15","slug":"celebrate-your-mistakes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theaposition.com\/robertfagan\/coaching\/golf-coaching\/2632\/celebrate-your-mistakes","title":{"rendered":"Celebrate Your Mistakes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/theaposition.com\/robertfagan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33\/2011\/03\/mistakes.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2635\" title=\"mistakes\" src=\"http:\/\/theaposition.com\/robertfagan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33\/2011\/03\/mistakes.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"347\" height=\"346\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theaposition.com\/robertfagan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33\/2011\/03\/mistakes.jpg 347w, https:\/\/theaposition.com\/robertfagan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33\/2011\/03\/mistakes-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/theaposition.com\/robertfagan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33\/2011\/03\/mistakes-125x125.jpg 125w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 347px) 100vw, 347px\" \/><\/a>Isn\u2019t it about time we stopped beating ourselves up over our mistakes?\u00a0 \u201cBob, our mistakes are signs of failure and take us away from our goals\u201d you might say.\u00a0 \u201cWe (I) did something wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Well, let\u2019s first define what a mistake is.\u00a0 Is it really something wrong or incorrect?\u00a0 First you took action.\u00a0\u00a0 Sometimes imperfect action is better than no action at all.\u00a0 Besides, is doing something wrong our worst outcome?<\/p>\n<p>Mistakes can be a genuine blessing \u2013 wise, effective teachers.\u00a0\u00a0 They can teach us if we are aware and open ourselves up for the lessons.\u00a0 They redefine our goals and signal when a change of tact or belief may be appropriate.\u00a0 If you are acting from a state of fear or one of its assorted cousins such as judgment, hate, anger, scarcity, etc., a mistake should signal that you might, indeed, consider changing your underlying belief.<\/p>\n<p>Often we focus upon our mistakes and spend energy in castigating and judging ourselves.\u00a0 This only takes us further into a sea of negativity, further from being in alignment with our highest or best selves.\u00a0 Instead, after making a mistake take a deep breath, pause and open up to asking yourself what teaching or lessons is now available for you.<\/p>\n<p>You can learn much from your mistakes or you can blindly continue without any awareness simply feeling bad and beating yourself up.\u00a0 When you can learn and grow from your actions, they cease to be mistakes and more like as gifts or lessons.<\/p>\n<p>From now on, expect that you will make mistakes, but also resolve to extract some blessing from each one.
