What would Buddha or Jesus do?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

What would Jack Welch do before a board meeting?\u00a0 How would Jerry Rice prepare for a football season?\u00a0 What would Jesus, Mohammed, or Buddha do in a particularly challenging or stressful situation?\u00a0 How would Donald Trump recover from bankruptcy? (He has.)\u00a0 Life presents us with unpleasant, unintended difficult situations no matter who you are – a difficult job or business challenge, a tough choice, a relationship issue, an accident, or maybe even the loss of a loved one.\u00a0 Ever want to just crawl in a hole and avoid the whole mess?\u00a0 Maybe you are simply overwhelmed with loss or fear.\u00a0 I know I have, but we also know that climbing into that hole won’t help things, right?\u00a0 If we had more courage, what would we do?<\/p>\n

Let’s say that you do find yourself saying that you can\u2019t do something or are afraid to do something?\u00a0 Maybe you\u2019ve avoided an issue only to have it fester and become worse.\u00a0 It happens all the time to most people.\u00a0 Here is a tool that I\u2019ve had great success with.\u00a0 When you feel too much resistance or fear, forget yourself and become a great actor or impersonator.\u00a0 Be someone else!<\/p>\n

The next step is to pick someone you truly admire real or imagine might have just the talents, courage, etc. to tackle your particular challenge.\u00a0 It could be a real life or even a fictional hero that you know well or someone in history or the current world you\u2019ve never met, but have a positive image of.\u00a0 Say Jesus, Buddha, Mother Teresa, Joe Montana, Jack Nicklaus, Ben Franklin, Spider Man, Eleanor Roosevelt, Albert Einstein, Nelson Mandela, Super Man or Super Woman, Angelina Jolie,\u00a0 Martin Luther King, Mohammed, whomever.<\/p>\n

Now if you can\u2019t do something, find and pick the person who can.\u00a0 Be them and imagine how they might proceed – really get into character.\u00a0 Finally, become the impersonator\/actor and take action in the manner you think they would.\u00a0 It’s your stage so perform as you believe they would.\u00a0 For Christians, they might want to be more Christ-like.\u00a0 For actors, they might want to impersonate Brando or Hepburn.\u00a0 A basketball player might want to act like Michael Jordon.\u00a0 Go ahead and be a super-hero.<\/p>\n

It matters not who you pick.\u00a0 The important thing is that you do what you\u2019ve been putting off or avoiding.\u00a0 \u201cDoing it\u201d is the key phrase.\u00a0 Don\u2019t worry about being perfect because the world rewards action every time over perfection.\u00a0\u00a0 And if the action doesn\u2019t work, you can always blame the person you picked and then substitute another.\u00a0 Besides many of these exemplary people handled setbacks quite well.<\/p>\n

This tactic of acting or playing \u201cpretend\u201d just might get you over the hump.\u00a0 Have fun with this!<\/p>\n
