<\/a>The following is a poem I enjoyed and was penned by my friend, Matt Flenniken during a visit to the Bandon Dunes Resort.\u00a0 It is shared with his permission.<\/em>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“O\u2019 BANDON\u00a0 AIR” <\/strong><\/p>\n By Matt Flenniken,\u00a0 PGA Member<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n A beautiful day for a beautiful game <\/strong><\/p>\n Not here for mere aspirations of fame<\/strong><\/p>\n For not such meager thinking relevant today<\/strong><\/p>\n But more for the land that crawls to the sea<\/strong><\/p>\n And the smell of the seaweed and tide before our evening tea.<\/strong><\/p>\n With joy we stride not with modern carts and palm trees here<\/strong><\/p>\n But a stride with purest heart and love of the game so near.<\/strong><\/p>\n The fescue is tight so my irons I wish to pinch with delight<\/strong><\/p>\n To see the driving bullets piercing flight. <\/strong><\/p>\n We play from dawn to the earth\u2019s half night <\/strong><\/p>\n With valiant belief that each shot is right.<\/strong><\/p>\n Whether on dunes of Bandon or Pacific or Trails or with Old Macdonald we trod <\/strong><\/p>\n Never halting, but giving them an honorable nod,<\/strong><\/p>\n We give them our best and we accept the rest <\/strong><\/p>\n and keep the ball low so where we know where it go,<\/strong><\/p>\n as we count our blessings and plan for our shots<\/strong><\/p>\n we keep our head high and a positive eye .<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/strong><\/p>\n Our love of the links is never so sad<\/strong><\/p>\n that friends and match play can never be had.<\/strong><\/p>\n So tis now we arrest our souls from our measure on the links;<\/strong><\/p>\n we enjoy a sit by the fire in atmosphere of our tire<\/strong><\/p>\n and reminisce of our fondness of each cleek hit on a wire.<\/strong><\/p>\n The sky she may be fair or sideways she blows<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/strong><\/p>\n Yet, ye golfers all shall stride the links with rose on the cheeks and wind in the hair<\/strong><\/p>\n And with a serene and smiling face- tell- he was there<\/strong><\/p>\n and found the best of links in o\u2019Bandon air.<\/strong><\/p>\n
