If you want to be a good conversationalist, you will want to avoid these ten sins!<\/p>\n

Interrupting.<\/strong> Let them finish.<\/p>\n

Criticizing.<\/strong> Do you bring others down or build them up? \u00a0Complaining, gossiping, and rumor spreading has the same negative effect.<\/p>\n

Ignoring Body Language.<\/strong> This includes your own posture and reading your audience. \u00a0Be interested and check to see if your listener is. \u00a0If not, adjust or stop.<\/p>\n

Me, Me, Me, Me, Me, Me talking. <\/strong> Most of us are too interested in ourselves to stay too long with your<\/em> train of thought.<\/p>\n

Arguing.<\/strong> When was the last time you had a great conversation that was also an argument?<\/p>\n

Being unresponsive.<\/strong> When was the last time you enjoyed chatting with a brick wall? \u00a0Let the other know that you understand them.<\/p>\n

Doom and Gloom.<\/strong> Do you raise someone’s energy or do you suck it out of them by frightening them?<\/p>\n

Using jargon or slang when your listener doesn’t understand<\/strong>. \u00a0Be sure to use the frequency your listener can pick up.<\/p>\n

Arrogance, bragging, sarcasm, talking down,<\/strong> and the like ruins the tone. \u00a0No one enjoys be told, taught, or talked down to.<\/p>\n

Talking too much!<\/strong> To be twice as powerful in your conversations, use half the words.<\/p>\n
