He was long the most powerful man in the US Senate before Kennedy picked him to be his Vice President where he could keep a wary eye on his Democratic adversary. What many people may not realize is that Johnson was one of the most persuasive and engaging people of his generation &#8211; a genuine power broker. Here is an interesting list that he termed his &#8216;rules&#8217; to success. They are timeless.<\/p>\n<p>1. \u00a0Remember names.<\/p>\n<p>2. \u00a0Be comfortable. \u00a0Be an old-shoe kind of individual.<\/p>\n<p>3. \u00a0Acquire the quality of relaxed easygoing, so that things do not ruffle you.<\/p>\n<p>4. \u00a0Don&#8217;t be egotistical.<\/p>\n<p>5. \u00a0Cultivate the quality of being interesting.<\/p>\n<p>6. \u00a0Study to get the &#8220;scratchy&#8221; elements out of your personality.<\/p>\n<p>7. \u00a0Sincerely attempt to heal every misunderstanding you have had or now have.<\/p>\n<p>8. \u00a0Practice liking people until you learn to do so genuinely.<\/p>\n<p>9. \u00a0Never miss an opportunity to say a word of congratulations.<\/p>\n<p>10.
