{"id":216,"date":"2010-11-19T12:53:06","date_gmt":"2010-11-19T12:53:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/teemoore.com\/?p=216"},"modified":"2024-10-11T16:34:53","modified_gmt":"2024-10-11T16:34:53","slug":"a-list-i-m-thankful-for-golf-partners-who","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theaposition.com\/teemoore\/golf\/216\/a-list-i-m-thankful-for-golf-partners-who","title":{"rendered":"A list: I\u2019m thankful for golf partners who\u2026."},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>Take the game seriously but never themselves.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Always recognize a good shot and if the spectacular occurs will even break out in polite applause.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Have the flagstick already in their hand when the last putt falls, minding the maxim, \u201cFirst one in, grabs the pin.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Are ready to hit when it\u2019s their play.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Walk and carry\/pull their clubs so you\u2019re all experiencing \u2018the journey of the game\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Search earnestly for your lost ball.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Never take more than three minutes to look for their own lost ball and invariably say, \u201cThanks, guys, but go ahead and hit your shots.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>At the turn ask, \u201cMay I get you anything?\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Pick up your club or towel left on the green while you\u2019re putting out<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Utter a brief \u201cthanks\u201d after you say \u201cgood shot!\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Kindly remind you to re-mark your coin in the proper spot if it had been moved over to avoid their line.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Invoke the \u201cmercy rule\u201d and not have you suffer a four-putt for a triple bogey.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Welcome into the group a single waiting on the first tee.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Will fix your ball mark without hesitation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Not only won\u2019t complain about another bad break or bounce but can even laugh about it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Have the good sense not to ask, \u201cWhat did you have on that hole?\u201d while you\u2019re still digesting an embarrassing \u2018circus train wreck.\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Go out of their way to grab a rake while you\u2019re hopelessly plugged in the bunker.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Ask friendly questions of their playing companions during the course of the round because the social fabric of the game is woven in the interrogative not the declarative tense.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Always buy a round when they\u2019re the big winner of the day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Buy a <em>second<\/em> round in spite of being the big losers of the day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Ask at the 19<sup>th<\/sup> hole, \u201cHey, what time are we playing next week and can I pick you up?\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Take the game seriously but never themselves.
