{"id":563,"date":"2012-05-04T07:09:54","date_gmt":"2012-05-04T12:09:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tomharack.com\/?p=563"},"modified":"2012-07-11T08:09:12","modified_gmt":"2012-07-11T13:09:12","slug":"burn-fat-play-golf-longer-part-ii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theaposition.com\/tomharack\/golf\/563\/burn-fat-play-golf-longer-part-ii","title":{"rendered":"Burn Fat, Play Golf Longer, Part II"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>The second installment of progress reports from a weight-loss program designed for golfers. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Having completed the two-week \u201cclean\u201d eating regimen that kicks off the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ThinGolfer.com\">\u201cWeight Loss for Golfers\u201d <\/a>program, I\u2019m on to the one-by-one reintroduction of certain foods to see if they produce adverse reactions. So far, so good &#8212; that is, I\u2019ve thus far discovered no food allergies; and though there are a couple of foodstuffs yet to be tested, major dietary components like dairy seem to agree with my digestive system.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As was true in <a title=\"Burn Fat, Play Golf Longer\" href=\"http:\/\/wp.me\/p1lWXH-8U\">my previous dispatch about the program<\/a> devised by weight loss coach Larry Jacobs, the numbers are good: My weight\u2019s down by roughly 13 pounds and, more importantly, the feeling of \u201cbulk\u201d is definitely diminished, as is my waist size. I\u2019ve also trimmed the blood pressure by a few millimeters of mercury, though variable results make it difficult to quantify precisely.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In fact, if I have a concern, it\u2019s that the program works almost <em>too<\/em> well: The dramatic initial results threaten to trigger the \u201calways-available-option\u201d response and thus non-compliance, particularly as I\u2019m not battling morbid obesity.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(This is further complicated by external circumstances, like a recent visit home to celebrate my father\u2019s 91<sup>st<\/sup> birthday. Shared meals give me a chance to get him to eat more, but at this point, he\u2019s not about to reach for the tofu.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Luckily for me, the next step in Jacobs\u2019 \u201cThin for Life\u201d discipline is a set of individualized guidelines to help achieve the desired end.
