Review & Betting Tips For The Amgen Irish Open

The European Tour now moves to County Clare in Ireland and the Greg Norman designed Doonbeg Golf Links, which was later redesigned by Martin Hawtree following coastal storms which literally washed some of the course away.

Weighing in at 7,026 yards, it is links course, but very manicured with wide fairways from most tees and even when it looks tight you will often find large bail-out areas hidden behind mounds, it is generally a resort course attached to the hotel.

The setting is great and Doonbeg has some spectacular holes on the water with 16 of the 18 holes offering sea views. There are a wonderful variety of holes including short par 4s, par 3s ranging from short to long, mixed up with reachable par 5s and certain three shotters. All this and the soundtrack and smells of the sea and the beach accompanying every shot.
