The Writer

Bob Cullen has written eight books on golf, including Why Golf? The Mystery of the Game Revisited and A Mulligan for Bobby Jobe. Why Golf still sells in its French translation, though it is long off the shelves of American bookstores. He does not know why, except that the French are reputed to have eccentric tastes.

He is the co-author of Dr. Bob Rotella’s best-selling books on the mental side of the game. The first book in that series, Golf Is Not a Game of Perfect, was named one of the ten best golf instruction books of all time by Sports Illustrated.  He considers Dr. Rotella one of the wisest and most generous men he has encountered, in or out of golf.

He was a contributing editor for Travel & Leisure Golf and has published articles on the game in magazines including Golf, Golf Digest, and The Atlantic Monthly. His golf reporting has originated from Iran, Slovenia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Panama, Scotland and Ireland.

He is believed to be the only undefeated caddy in the history of European professional golf, with a record of two tournaments looped, two tournaments won.

He finished 25th in the Russian amateur championship of 2001 (for details, click here).

He is the co-coach of the Central High School golf team in Seat Pleasant, MD.

He struggles manfully against an insidious case of the chip yips.
