Cobra Golf’s design and manufacturing teams continue to find innovative manufacturing technics to improve club performance and in the most recent case it is in putters, a category in which they have not had a credible entry for several years. This time around R&D was focused on head design, face insert technology for roll and feel, speed control for distance in heads having extremely high MOI values.
Last fall the foray into the putter market began with the strictly limited-edition King Supersport-35 that tested the waters so to speak and introduced the idea of using an 3D metal printed interior.
Now the new King 3D Printed putters use a similar technology but rather than metal it is Multi-Jet 3D Nylon printing to produce an intricate lattice placed within the putter head to improve weight distribution since nylon is less than half the weight of aluminum which often used. The lattice is so complex it cannot be manufactured by other conventional methods and has the advantage of providing an immense increase in the putter’s resistance to twisting.
Each member of the new family also uses the SIK Golf Descending Loft Technology face to compensate for strokes that add or decrease loft at impact and as is true for all Cobra clubs a Cobra Connect grip to capture swing data using Arccos technology.
“We’re extremely excited launch our new family of 3D printed putters, continuing our partnership with HP, utilizing their Metal Jet Technology to innovate and transform the way golf equipment is manufactured through the use of 3D printing, an extremely effective process in the design and development of our new putter line,” said Jose Miraflor, vice president of marketing and product architecture. “We are extremely excited for golfers to try our new 3D printed putters, while each is unique, they all deliver advanced stability, forgiveness and roll performance that will make putting easier for golfers of all levels.”
