Titleist is selling more golf balls and more clubs than ever before, so the introduction of the new T-Series irons fits neatly into the growth pattern of the past several years.
The latest versions according to the press announcement, “deliver unrivaled feel with effortless turf interaction in four tour-inspired shapes, each designed to maximize the three dimensions of iron performance: distance control, dispersion control and descent angle.” Certainly, a goal no one can quibble with but in fact many Titleist staff players on the PGA Tour have started playing them continuing the record of being the most played iron on Tour for 18 of the past 19 seasons, most recently nine in a row. The 2019 T100s are the most played iron model by professionals.
A couple of points to note. The T150 is a similar construction to T100 but with 2° stronger lofts for pros looking for the feel of the T100s but added distance thus making a way for combination sets of the two models. The irons targeted to recreational players, the T200 and T350, are of similar construction but the T350 is significantly larger head pushing it almost into the super game-improvement category.
“New T-Series irons raise the bar in terms of total performance. Players are always looking for iron performance to be more consistent,” said Marni Ines, Director, Titleist Irons Development, Golf Club R&D. “We want players to hit their distance as often as possible, we want players to hit their preferred flight as often as possible, and we want as tight a dispersion pattern as possible. Each new T-Series iron – from T100 all the way to T350 – feels outstanding, and all of them perform better across the board.”
