Canfield, Ohio – Billy Casper Golf Management announced today it will take over operations at Kennsington Golf Club, an upper-end public facility located midway between Cleveland and Pittsburgh.
The addition of Kennsington marks Billy Casper’s 11th property in Ohio and 39th in the Midwest. Overall, the Vienna, Va.-based management company owns and operates 110 courses in 26 states.
Billy Casper will control all aspects of Kennsington’s golf course and property maintenance, staffing and training, clubhouse operations, food and beverage, merchandising, golf instruction, marketing and public relations, special events and financial management.
“Billy Casper Golf’s reputation for delivering superior playing surfaces and first-rate overall guest experiences enticed us to partner with the company,” says Chuck Whitman, president of CTW Development Corporation that owns Kennsington. “With new management in place, golfers will immediately begin to experience a better product and excellent customer service.”
Billy Casper chairman and chief executive officer Peter Hill is delighted to add another daily-fee property in the Midwest.
“Kennsington Golf Club is one of the finest courses in the Youngstown area,” says Hill, whose 20-year-old company is one of the largest golf operators in the business. “Billy Casper Golf prides itself on ensuring each guest is well cared for each time they step foot on one of our courses; the staff at Kennsington will treat all golfers to a fun and enjoyable experience.”
To immediately strengthen golfers’ experiences at the upscale public course, Billy Casper has hand-picked Curtis Burkeen as general manager. Most recently, Burkeen was First Assistant Golf Professional at the Casper-managed and highly-ranked Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio.
Plans call for the completion of the dining portion of the clubhouse, offering a sit-down restaurant in addition to a more casual bar and grill menu. The restaurant will seat approximately 200 people, 100 inside and 100 outside on the veranda, and will feature a full-service kitchen and bar with an extensive draft-beer selection.
BCG will offer comprehensive daily-fee programs and season pass options to accommodate as many golfers as possible. The offerings will allow golfers to select from a menu of programs that best suit their playing schedules.
Designed by golf course architect Brian Huntley, Kennsington is an 18-hole, 7,044-yard, par-71 course blending natural beauty with a challenging layout. The course boasts carefully-sculpted, tree-lined fairways; scenic ravines; and strategically-placed hazards.
Carved from dense forest, the course is bounded on the east by Kyle Woods Nature Preserve. A full-service practice facility includes a large natural-grass driving range with target greens flanked by bunkers, a putting green and short-game areas. The fully-stocked pro shop has a complete selection of golf apparel and equipment.
