The venue of the 2018 Ryder Cup matches and home to the Open de France, Le Golf National plays host to this week’s XXXIII Olympiad Women’s Golf tournament, and after the excitement of last week’s men’s event, I am sure we will be in for another exciting tournament this week.

Golf was first introduced as an Olympic sport at the 1900 summer Olympics, but it was removed from the games after the 1904 summer Olympics. Golf once again became an Olympic sport at the 2016 Rio summer Olympics.

The United States has won 11 out of a possible 19 medals, although six out of these medals were won at the 1904 summer Olympics, where 74 out of 77 competing golfers were from the United States.
