The PGA Tour now moves to Southern Utah and a new venue and tournament the Black Desert Championship, which will be played on one of the last ever golf courses designed by Tom Weiskopf. Tom was diagnosed with cancer as construction began.
Black Desert Resort is located outside the golf-rich area of St. George, Utah. The course opened for play in 2023 and the juxtaposition of the emerald green fairways as they weave their way through the surrounding desert, black lava rock and horizons of red rock mountains gives the course it stunning visual elegance. The fairways had to be blasted through the black lava rock and then shaped.
