Some gift ideas for the golfer on your list

This is the time of year when golf readers will see a number of holiday gift guides prancing in front of their eyes. I have a few favorites that I’ve encountered and used over recent months.

Works like a Breeze

Works like a Breeze

Golf Breeze: Sold under the Zoom Broom line of products, the Michigan-based Golf Breeze is a lightweight cordless stick blower ideal for fall and early winter golfers. Nicely fitting into my bag, it worked like a charm on leaf-strewn greens. It lasts up to 30 minutes at the lower setting which was fine on most outings. There is also a higher power “turbo setting” but if used it will reduce the running time by half. Over the years, I’ve seen other portable models but they appear bulky and not suitable for a carry bag. With a USB-C port and charger, Golf Breeze retails online for $179, which is a little pricey, but there are Black Friday specials. Visit www.zoombrooms.com

Putting Arc MS-3D: I’m not one who worked much on my putting over the winter, but I plan to do so with this putting aid. This device rests on the premise that the path of the putter is on an arc, and not “down the line, straight back and straight thru.”  Basically, this training tool teaches you to move the toe or heel of the putter along the face of the Putting Arc. In a proper stroke, the putter remains “square to the arc and only square to the target line at impact.” Included in an optional package, is a mirror for one to check for a quiet head and body. Affordably priced at $89.99. Visit www.puttingarc.com

Ashworth really broke through with Fred Couples winning the Masters in '82

Ashworth really broke through with Fred Couples winning the Masters in ’92

Ashworth: As a golf clothing line, Ashworth burst on the scene at the 1992 Masters when Fred Couples wore the brand in winning at Augusta National. Ever since its iconic Golfman logo has made a lasting mark in the apparel business. Attention to detail is endemic to Ashworth as in the extra one inch on the tails of most shirts and hidden buttons underneath some golf shirts to keep the collars neatly in place. I’m particularly partial to Classic Stretch golf pants with their performance fabric imparting softness and comfort. I also like how the pants feature Golfman logo rivets on the pockets, affording more strength at stress points to avoid tearing. Visit www.ashworth-golf.com

Joggers come in four solid colors

Medical Scrubs: A friend who works at a hospital tipped me off about this line that has some nice products suitable for on and off the course. It’s well-known for its non-slip Infinity line of premium footwear designed for those on their feet most of the day. For those looking for that European look on the links, the Barco Unify line of jogger pants fit the bill. Comfy and stretchy, they come in four solid collars. From breezy joggers and comfy athletic shoes to plus-sized scrubs and petite scrubs, Medical Scrubs Collections offers a vast array of chic fashions for all kinds of occasions. Visit www.medicalscrubscollection.com

True Golf Shoes: Written about late last year these shoes, under the Truelinkswear brand, elicited more comments than any other shoe I’ve worn in recent years. Comfortable, waterproof, lightweight, and stylish, the shoes held up exceptionally well this past season. As noted last time, I really liked its packaging. The shoes are shipped in a reusable soft-sided pouch ideally serving as a shoe bag. I haven’t seen this innovation before and it’s a smart, sustainable idea. Visit www.truelinkswear.com
