This is the time of year when golf readers will see a number of holiday gift guides prancing in front of their eyes. I have a few favorites that I’ve encountered and used over recent months.
Works like a Breeze
Golf Breeze: Sold under the Zoom Broom line of products, the Michigan-based Golf Breeze is a lightweight cordless stick blower ideal for fall and early winter golfers. Nicely fitting into my bag, it worked like a charm on leaf-strewn greens. It lasts up to 30 minutes at the lower setting which was fine on most outings. There is also a higher power “turbo setting” but if used it will reduce the running time by half. Over the years, I’ve seen other portable models but they appear bulky and not suitable for a carry bag. Putting Arc MS-3D: I’m not one who worked much on my putting over the winter, but I plan to do so with this putting aid. This device rests on the premise that the path of the putter is on an arc, and not “down the line, straight back and straight thru.” Basically, this training tool teaches you to move the toe or heel of the putter along the face of the Putting Arc. In a proper stroke, the putter remains “square to the arc and only square to the target line at impact.” Included in an optional package, is a mirror for one to check for a quiet head and body. Ashworth really broke through with Fred Couples winning the Masters in ’92

True Golf Shoes: Written about late last year these shoes, under the Truelinkswear brand, elicited more comments than any other shoe I’ve worn in recent years.
