Jason Dufner will be making the rounds across New England next month.
Somehow, in the midst of teeing it up at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn., at the June 19-June 22 Travelers Championship, the reigning PGA champion and originator of the “Dufnering” craze his pal Keegan Bradley helped go viral, will play a June 20 charity skins game at Crumpin-Fox Club in Bernardston, Mass.
Dufner, whose presence at the event will help raise money for the Jill E. Harrington Hanzalik Memorial Fund, will conduct a 45-minute clinic and Q&A session on the range before taking part in a nine-hole skins competition offering $10,000 in net and gross prizes. The three-time PGA Tour winner will attend a gala and silent auction later that evening, as well as travel north to West Dover, Vt., to kick off an 18-hole scramble tourney on June 21 at Mount Snow Golf Club that will also raise funds for the JEHH Memorial Fund.Dufner, as his @JasonDufner Twitter page informs, is an “avid Auburn University fan,” and is lending his celebrity to the JEHH proceedings because of his friendship with fellow Tiger, former NBA player and Bernardston-born foundation founder Adam Harrington.
Named in memory of Harrington’s sister, Jill, the JEHH foundation provides financial assistance via sports, education and/or the arts to young people in the areas of health, education, life skills, and empowerment. You may purchase tickets here for $500 per player. The clinic begins at 1 p.m., with the skins game commencing an hour later.Dufner will end his busy New England sojourn at Rhode Island CC in Barrington for the annual CVS Caremark Charity Classic, slated for June 23-June 24. There, he’ll join hosts Brad Faxon and Billy Andrade as well as a host of LPGA and fellow tour players, including Kraft Nabisco champion Lexi Thompson, Hall of Famer and 2015 Solheim Cup captain Juli Inkster, FedExCup leader Jimmy Walker, Steve Stricker, Matt Kuchar, and Zach Johnson.
The Rhode Island event raises funds for nonprofit organizations that provide a range of programs serving children and families across Southeastern New England.
