It’s the 40th anniversary of Mel Brooks’ classic movie “Blazing Saddles that features a character called ‘Mongo.’’ I doubt that’s what Tour Edge Golf boss David Glod had in mind when he saw the Mongo grooves on the new Exotics CB Pros wedge line, but it’s a cool connection, especially for wedge freaks like me.
The CB Pros is the first forged wedge in the Exotics line. Tour Edge says the Mongo grooves feature the most aggressive legal sharpness and width allowed by the USGA and are layered with 28 micro- grooves to provide maximum face roughness for the better control.
A custom sole grind, perfected by Glod – president and chief designer – increases the versatility to meet the needs of better players. The eliminated bounce from the heel and toe, according to Glod, allows players to easily open the face or shut it down for increased shot-making ability.
The Exotics CB Pros wedges are available in lofts of 50, 52, 54, 56 and 60 degrees and carry a suggested retail price of $99.99 for steel and $119 for graphite.
