Band of the Royal Guard of Oman
From our good friends at Gordon & Macphail– the largest purveyor of Scotch in Scotland– comes news about perhaps the world’s largest gathering of bag pipe playing bands in one place at the same time. 123 Pipe Bands have registered to play in the European Pipe Band Championships, to be held in Forres, Scotland, on June 29th. The majority of bands come from Scotland but some are traveling from as far afield as Australia and Oman.
With a population of approximately 9,000 Forres– 30 miles east of Inverness– has much to offer, including a selections of shops, restaurants, pubs, the Benromach Distillery, and a fine old-school golf course. Forres is also within striking distance of such classic links courses as Nairn and Castle Stewart.
