Sitting in between the 8th hole at Muirfield and the 9th hole at North Berwick lays Archerfield with its two 18-hole layouts both designed by DJ Russel. Just because they are new course that came into play in 2004 doesn’t mean Archerfield doesn’t have its own unique history. Golf has been played over this land for centuries with the original 6-hole layout being extended to 13-holes in 1869, Ben Sayers – who was the professional at North Berwick – was then commissioned to extend the course to 18-holes around 1910.
