The tour will be staying at Muirfield Village for the second week, following last week’s Workday Charity Open, for this week’s event which is The Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide. The course will be set up differently with the green’s speeds going from 11 to 13 on the stimpmeter and the second cut of rough will go from 3” up to 4” so hitting the fairways this week is going to be even more imperative. There will also be different tee boxes being utilised on each hole.
Muirfield Village Golf Club was the dream of Nicklaus and Desmond Muirhead, they acquired the land back in 1966 but construction didn’t begin until July 1972. The golf course, which is situated on 220 acres and was officially opened for play on Memorial Day 1974 with an exhibition match between Nicklaus and Tom Weiskopf.
