The European Tour stays in mainland Europe and moves to Italy and the 2023 Ryder Cup venue which is based an hours drive from the centre of Rome, near the near the historic hill town of Tivoli and their World Heritage protected houses with the conical roofs.

Marco Simone Golf & Country Club was designed by Jim Fazio back in the late 1980s and lies within a beautiful old estate complete with a restored 11th century castle that belongs to fashion designer Laura Biagiotti and the 7,000 square metre clubhouse is one of the largest in Europe.

This isn’t the first time the Marco Simone course has held the Italian Open, Eduardo Romero won here back in 1994. Since then Fazio’s son Tom was commission to completely renovate the course for the 2020 Ryder Cup, but COVID has obviously pushed that back to 2023.
