This week the DP World Tour move to the UAE and a new course for some, but there will be many players in the field this week who played at the Al Hamra Golf Course when competing in the Challenge Tours Ras Al Khaimah, 2016/7 Golf Challenge which was played here.
Al Hamra Golf Club was the UAE’s first 18-hole golf course and opened for play in 2007, designed by Peter Harradine it meanders around four interconnected open-water lagoons, which merge with the water of the Arabian Gulf.
Originally planned to be built on the salt flats bordering the waters edge, a staggering five million cubic meters of sand and soil were moved during course construction, this combined with expert shaping have created gentle elevation changes as the terrain moves around the lagoons.
