For the first time since 2019 the RBC Canadian Open is back on the PGA Tour schedule and will be played at the Stanley Thompson designed St Georges Golf & Country Club, formally known as The Royal York Golf Club. The course was scheduled to be used for the 2020 Canadian Open, but due to the COVID pandemic it had to be cancelled.

The course was part of the Royal York Hotel which was developed in 1909 by Robert Home Smith and in 1927 he decided the hotel would benefit from offering its clients access to a golf course and Canadian golf course designer Stanley Thompson was duly commissioned to design and construct an 18-hole championship course and a 9-hole course on the adjacent lands.
