The European Tour is back this week and linking up with the Japan Golf Tour Organisation (JGTO) this event was due to take place last year, but because of the Covid travel restrictions the tournament was played in Spain. This is the first European Tour event to ever take place in Japan and with the course only 90 minutes from Tokyo, I am sure there will be a lot of local interest, especially with the top three spots in the JGTO order of merit being allocated European Tour playing cards.
The Ishioka Golf Club was designed by Jack Nicklaus in 1994, its an attractive parkland course cut through the Kogama Forest and makes full use of the natural terrain. Known for its narrow fairways, mature trees and strategically placed bunkers, the greens are large, well protected and generally flat and divided into separate tiers with subtle steps, which offers a variety of pin options.
