The European Tour moves to Bahrain for the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship, that will be held for the second year at the Colin Montgomerie designed Royal Golf Club which is Bahrain’s only 18 hole grass golf course in the kingdom and opened for play back in 1999.

The course has since been completely redesigned by Montgomerie and European Tour designs when it closed redevelopment in 2007 and reopened for play again in January 2009

The golf club is located in Riffa Views, the kingdom’s first ‘gated community’ and is located around 20 kilometres from the capital Manama. The course combines rolling desert and landscaped lakes, with the design brief of trying to design a links style golf course.
