This week the DP World Tour moves to the UAE for the fourth edition of the Ras Al Khaimah Championship at the Al Hamra Golf Course, which hosted back-to-back events the first year the event was held, the other being The Ras Al Khaimah Classic.

Al Hamra Golf Club was the UAE’s first 18-hole golf course and opened for play in 2007, designed by Peter Harradine it meanders around four interconnected open-water lagoons, which merge with the water of the Arabian Gulf.

Originally planned to be built on the salt flats bordering the waters edge, a staggering five million cubic meters of sand and soil were moved during course construction, this combined with expert shaping have created gentle elevation changes as the terrain moves around the lagoons.
