In Preparation:
Schedule Movers
Obtain boxes
Assess transportation needs
Reserve a storage unit if required
For school-age children arrange for school records transfer
Pet transportion
Medical Records Transfer:
Dental
Medical
Prescriptions
Veterinarian
Utilities to Cancel:
Telephone
Water
Garbage
Gas & Electric
Propane
Cell phone(s)
Cable
Change Address:
Forward address to Post Office
Current Employer
Credit cards
Bank Accounts
Credit Cards
Investments
Close to Moving Day:
Hand carry jewelry and valuables
Defrost refrigerator
Hoses and outdoor tools
Travel cash and checks
Leave keys and garage door opener
Once You Move In:
Arrange with Post Office to hold mail for new address
Turn on water, telephone, garbage, gas & electric, propane, cable
Apply for new State’s Driver’s License or change address within State
Register car
Register to vote
Register children in school
Obtain new doctor, dentist, and veterinarian
