Book Review – “The Gift of Golf – My Life With A Wonderful Game” by Peggy Kirk Bell with Lee Pace

If you relish golf’s recent history in America, you probably already know of Peggy Kirk Bell, one of the grand ladies of the American Golf.  “The Gift of Golf” is her autobiography with some lessons attached.  Mrs. Bell is simply one of the games most revered people, an LPGA pioneer as both a player and a renowned teacher, and the matriarch that runs the family-oriented Pine Needles and Mid-Pines resorts in Southern Pines, North Carolina.  She traces her development as a player, her wonderful marriage to Warren “Bullet” Bell, and her life as a player, teacher, and friend of the game. The text is simple and easy, unpretentious, enlightening and thoughtful, just like its subject.  A quick read of under 140 pages, it is offered at a list price of $17.95.  Check with The Pilot, PO Box 58, Southern Pines, NC 28387
