In golf’s most formidable gauntlet–the PGA Tour’s Qualifying School–a handful of Michigan players advanced to the Final Stage beginning next Wednesday at PGA West in Palm Springs, CA. They are: Grosse Ile’s Jeff Cuzzort, Muskegon’s Brendan Gielow, Wyandotte’s Justin Hicks, and the Grand Rapids duo of Matt Harmon and Andy Matthews.
The quintet will now head to the finals from Nov. 30 to Dec. 5 at PGA West Nicklaus and Stadium Courses in La Quinta, Calif. The tournament consists of six rounds where the top 25 players plus ties earn exempt status on the 2012 PGA Tour. Also, the next 50 players and ties will be fully exempt for the 2012 Nationwide Tour.
Take a look at some of these familiar names also advancing to the final stage: Tommy Armour III, Rich Beem, David Duval, Lee Janzen, Jeff Maggert, Bob May, Sam Saunders (Arnie’s grandson), and Boo Weekley.
