Monday I’ll be caddying in a professional tournament for the first time in five years when I carry the golf bag for Chip Mendela in the Manchester (Conn.) Open.
You can read about Chip’s golf road that includes heart disease and stroke in an interview conducted by ESPN.com editor Marty Bernoski by clicking here.
The Manchester Open was first played in 1946. Winners include Julius Boros, Tommy Armour, Bob Toski and Wayne Levi. Mark Calcavecchia competed there in the 1980s.
This year’s field includes Geoff Sisk who has won six Massachusetts Open, a record he shares with Alex Ross brother of famed golf course architect Donald Ross. Connecticut native Gerry Courville, Jr. is also in the field. Courville captured the 1995 USGA Mid-Am and complied a 4-2 record in two Walker Cups.
Monday you can follow us here. Are tee time is scheduled for 10:20.
