Old Course Changes First Announced in Early November; Work Began the 19th

The various golf clubs in St. Andrews, Scotland that play their matches on the layouts managed by the Link Trust were notified in early November of the impending alterations to the Old Course, according to one club member.  Work began on the 19th.

Local clubs were told of the modifications but not asked for input on the work. The necessary committees overseen by the Links Trust and the R&A had approved the plans before the local clubs were briefed.

The Road Hole Bunker, which in its previous incarnation was smaller and deeper than ever before, is being enlarged and possibly made shallower. The left corner of the 11th green is already lowered.
