Viva el golf: August National’s unlikely partnership with Latinos

In the April 2015 edition of The Grain Magazine, I authored a story about the inaugural Latin America Amateur Championship, an amateur golf event that took place in Buenos Aires this past January.  The winner of the event (Matias Dominguez) earned an invitation to The Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club, a placed steeped in American golf tradition.  I wanted to examine the political, economic and cultural aspects of golf’s governing bodies establishing the event and also understand the ramifications of the tournament on amateur and professional golf in the region.
