It’s only a practice round, but everything gets overblown at the U.S. Open. So here we go. Callaway Golf staffer Alvaro Quiros today aced the par 4 seventh hole at the Olympic Club. Quiros used a 9.5 degree Callaway RAZR Fit driver and a Callaway HEX Black Tour ball that landed in the hole 288 yards away from its starting point. The shot was Quiros’ first hole-in-one on a par 4.
“I knew I hit the ball well, but thought that we would find it in the middle of the green,” said Quiros. “Then when I saw everyone in the stands jump to their feet and scream, I figured it must have hit the pin and be close. When they all remained on their feet and continued to cheer as we walked towards the green, I realized that something special had happened.”
Quiros took the ball from the hole and tossed it into the large crowd. The ball found its way into the hands of a young boy, who met the Spaniard on his way to the eighth tee box to add an autograph to his souvenir.
