It’s the general belief that PGA Tour players don’t sell equipment as much as they validate equipment. It seems, however, Hunter Mahan might have accomplished both with his victory this past Sunday at the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship. Ping Golf Chairman John A. Solheim said consumer reaction has been overwhelming to Mahan’s Ping Nome putter.
“Hunter gave our new Nome putter instant validation,” Solheim said. “We’ve been inundated with calls, texts, tweets, Facebook posts and emails inquiring about the new putter. The traffic to our website on Sunday nearly doubled. We couldn’t ask for much more.”
The new Nome putter will be available in April.
