Adams Golf introduces updated version of Tight Lies fairway woods

Adams Golf made a name for itself in 1995 when it introduced the Tight Lies line of fairway woods. Tight Lines, in fact, helped change the metal wood landscape. Now the company is bringing back an updated version of the Tight Lies line it says features many of the same design elements that made the original an enormous success.

The biggest change is the new versions feature Adams Golf’s familiar Velocity Slot Technology that the company says makes the face twice as hot.  If you’ve hit any Adams Golf fairway woods with the Velocity Slot Technology, you know it’s more than marketing hype. Just like the original, the new Tight Lies will be launched initially as a 16 degree 3-wood with other loft options available at a later date.

“In the ever-present pursuit of maximum distance, today’s fairway woods have become mini-drivers – extremely difficult to hit from anywhere other than from a tee,” said Justin Honea, director of research and development for Adams Golf. “The low profile design places the center of gravity (CG) below the CG of the ball, making it easy to hit the ball in the air. The tri-sole design makes it easy to hit from a multitude of challenging lies and then we added a refined Cut-Thru Slot design so this new Tight Lies is twice as hot as the original. It’s the perfect blend of playability and performance.”

The redesigned Cut-Thru Slots in the crown and sole, Honea said, create maximum face deflection that increases deflection for higher ball speeds. Another added benefit in the new slot design, according to Honea, is the increased forgiveness across the face.

Available in mid-August, Tight Lies fairway woods are available in with the Bassara Eagle graphite shaft by Mitsubishi Rayon. Tight Lies Tour will feature the Aldila Tour Blue shaft. The Men’s Tight Lies and Tight Lies Tour models will feature a matte black finish; the women’s model will feature a matte grey crown. The Tight Lies fairway will carry a retail price of suggested retail price of $199.99, and $229.99 for the Tight Lies Tour.
