About

Edwin Roald

Edwin Roald is a golf course designer and journalist from Iceland, the world’s most active golf country per capita. Edwin has run an independent golf course design practice for ten years, designing or consulting in six countries.

After having established a career in sports journalism for Iceland’s largest daily newspaper, Edwin went to Great Britain to attend Guildford’ College’s Golf Studies program, and later to study golf course architecture with the European Institute of Golf Course Architecture and Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh.

Recently, Edwin Roald has hoped to inspire the golf world to break away from the eighteen-hole tradition in an effort to revitalize the game and the industry that now experiences a significant drop in participation. The concept can be viewed on www.why18holes.com.
