For the past 14 years, FootJoy has made some of the better outwear in the golf market and established itself as a top player. It was only a matter of time before FootJoy expanded to a full line golf apparel business. That time will be in January, 2012 when FootJoy, already the industry’s leader in golf shoes and gloves, will feature a complete range of men’s golf apparel comprised of performance fabrics to complement the existing line of advanced outerwear.
FootJoy, sister company of Titleist under the Acushnet umbrella, says the apparel line will begin with a “core range of essential performance offerings’’ that will be in-stock from season to season. This assortment will be supplemented by multiple color story collections for the Spring and Fall
That feature contemporary colors and patterns in a variety of styles and performance fabrics.
Given its heritage, there’s little doubt FootJoy’s new apparel line won’t success and increase its top and bottom lines. That growth could make FootJoy even more attractive as part of parent Fortune Brands’ sale of the Acushnet Co., either as a package with Titleist or on its own.
“This strategic initiative has been carefully considered for several years and is supported by an extremely sophisticated and comprehensive study of the golf apparel category,’’ ,” said Andy Jones, FootJoy Vice President, Gloves/Accessories/Apparel, Worldwide.
Introduced last year, Jones said the layering system was developed to meet the specific needs of golfers who demand comfortable performance apparel that regulates body temperature and adapts to changing weather conditions.
