Ernie Els signs to play ECCO golf shoes
Ernie Els is following in Fred Couples’ ECCO shoes. The four-time major champion has signed a multi-year deal with Danish company ECCO to wear its golf shoes and showcase the company’s logo on his headwear.
Throughout 2014, Els will be seen competing globally in a range of selections from ECCO’s current shoe collection, including the new Street EVO One, popular BIOM Hybrid and Tour Hybrid models. Each shoe, according to ECCO, is built atop a patented configuration of approximately 100 molded traction bars with 800 traction angles to provide exceptional grip.
Couples was the first big-name signing for ECCO a few years ago and help the company popularize the non-cleat golf shoe. Graeme McDowell and Thomas Bjorn are among the more familiar names, along with Couples, currently sporting ECCO shoes on the PGA Tour.
