Canada was good for shaft maker Graphite Design this past weekend. Teen-age phenom Lydia Ko played a Graphite Design Tour AD DI 5 shaft in her driver and the new Tour AD BB 5 shafts in her three-wood and five-wood to win the Canadian Women’s Open. A total of nine of the top 10 finishers in the event played Graphite Design shafts.
The company says the new Tour AD BB shaft was designed with the “appropriate amount of flexibility” in the butt section to allow a player to load the shaft properly, creating a “one-piece feel” during the swing. That action, according to Graphite Design, gives a player a sense of power and load. With proper load throughout the impact, it eliminates any loss of swing speed and creates a penetrating trajectory.
In developing this high performance shaft, the company said it increased stiffness in the tip-to-middle section that supports the shaft playability, making it more stable and improving workability and shot dispersion for increased accuracy.
