Graphite Design introduces heavier G Series shafts

Graphite Design is introducing the heavier G-Series 80 and 90 gram shafts incorporating X Directional Technology (XDT). Graphite Design says the G-Series shaft is the next generation of premium Graphite Design shafts.

The new heavier shafts work well in fairway woods and are designed for players with higher swing speeds.

“So many tour players prefer to use 80 and 90 gram shafts in their fairway woods,” said Tak Yamada, president of Graphite Design. “In the past, our YS+ 8.1 and 9.1 shafts have been popular with stronger players because of the heavier weight options. These new G-Series 80 and 90 gram shafts will build on the past success of the YS+ shafts and meet the continued demands of golfers looking for heavier shafts.”

Yamada said the G-Series characteristics favor a low to mid launch trajectory and mid ball spin – things most good players look when assessing shaft performance. The new X Directional Technology (XDT), Yamada said, incorporates the use of Graphite Design’s MSI (Material Stiffness Integration) design method as well as this new application of graphite fiber alignment throughout the shaft structure.

During the development phase of XDT, according to Yamada, measurable performance gains were discovered through a more balanced distribution of the graphite fibers within the plies of the shaft design.  This proprietary application of XDT, Yamada said, makes the new G series the most balanced, versatile high performance golf shaft available today.

The G-Series shafts (suggested retail price $199) are now available in six weights: 40 gram (Lite, Regular and Stiff flexes); 50 gram (Lite, Regular and Stiff flexes); 60 gram (Regular, Stiff and X-Stiff flexes); 70 gram (Stiff and X-Stiff flexes); 80 gram (Stiff and X-Stiff flexes); and 90 gram (Stiff and X-Stiff flexes).
