Choi’s Choice: Titleist Pro V1x golf ball

The Acushnet Company’s Titleist golf ball brand doubled down this past weekend as Na Yeon Choi won the U.S. Women’s Open with a Titleist Pro V1x ball and Ted Potter, Jr., won the Greenbrier Classic with a Titleist Pro V1x.

The Titleist brand won the ball count at the U.S. Women’s Open (108) and the wedge count (89); at the Greenbrier Classic on the PGA Tour, Titleist won the ball count (101), tied for the lead in irons (38) and led the wedge (132) and putter (64) counts.

The seeding process of the new Titleist 913 drivers continued for the second week at the Greenbrier Classic with 13 players putting it in play, including five first-timers: Greg Chalmers (913D2), Harrison Frazar (913D2), Hunter Haas (913D2), Matt Jones (910D3) and club professional David Hutsell (913D2).  Martin Flores was the top 913 finisher this week (6th), playing a 9.5-degree 913D3.

On the subject of seeding, Ping Golf is expected begin seeding its new Anser adjustable driver at this week’s John Deere Classic and the Scottish Open.
