Next time the grow-the- game propagandists at the PGA of America give you the “all is well” in the golf industry speech (see Kevin Bacon in Animal House), point them to the Heartland. That’s where the Golf USA store in Lawrence, Kan., is – or was. Owner Kyle Taylor is shutting his doors after 16 years.
“The economy has not treated the golf industry well,” Taylor told the Lawrence Journal-World newspaper. “A lot of people are playing less now or have just given up the game.”
You know the kids in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., don’t want to hear that. Say it ain’t so Joe.
