The European Tour now moves to Sweden and a new venue, the Vasatorps Golfklubb. Formed in January 1973, the original course was built by Ulf Widerström, who was the former head of the Skanska construction company. Ulf contacted course architect Thure Bruce, who immediately began sketching the design of the course, which was ready to play in 1974.
Within six years, it had held the Scandinavian Enterprise Open and has a roll of legends who have won here including Seve Ballesteros, Sandy Lyle and Greg Norman. After a relatively dormant period, the club is once again gearing up to host DP World Tour events and to show their ambition in 2008 the club unveiled a new 18-hole TC (Tournament Course) designed by American Steve Forrest.
