Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps just made an ass of himself on the 14th tee of the Old Course at St. Andrews, Scotland during the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship as he imitated movie character Happy Gilmour’s running swing.
The Golf Channel’s European announcers were aghast. (I believe it was Dougie Donnelly and Warren Humphreys.)
Said the first as it became apparent what Phelps was about to do, “no, no, not round here.”
Said his partner, “sacrilegious isn’t it?”
Here’s hoping that Phelps, who is paired with Colin Montgomerie, isn’t invited back to the tournament that is also played over Carnoustie Golf Links and Kingsbarns Golf Links.
