Tiger Woods says he’s ready for the Ocean Course’s challenge

Tiger Woods says he likes Pete Dye’s Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, site of this week’s PGA Championship. We’ll see how he likes it Sunday afternoon. That is, the Tiger Woods’ short-game of five years ago would have had little trouble with the Ocean Course bumper pool greens complexes; today’s Tiger Woods, a fourr-time PGA champion, is still trying to fine tune the distance control his short irons that at one time made him almost unbeatable.

“I do like Pete’s courses,” the Striped One said today. “He makes you think, which I like, instead of just going out there and hitting a golf ball.  He makes you make a decision off the tees; he makes you make a decision into the greens and makes you leave the ball in the correct spot.

“The thing about Pete is if you miss your spots, you’re going to get penalized severely, and I think that’s more so than any other course designer.  But he gives you a lot of room.”

See you Sunday.
